How to Join Local 132 of Ohio
Within the work scope of Local 132, there are residential, commercial, highway, and industrial types of projects. The majority of the work applications for Local 132 fall into two categories — commercial and highway work. There are also three trade classifications for Local 132, as follows — Cement Masons (CM), Plasterers (PL), and Shop Hand (SH).
Ways to Become a Member of Local 132
There are only two ways that you may become a member of Local 132 — apply as a qualified journey worker or as an apprentice. Learn more about each of these methods of joining below.
1) Fill Out an Application for Membership as a Qualified Journey Worker
Journey Worker — The applicant must be able to substantiate their claims of skills, knowledge, and mechanical ability along with experience in the trade and/or the industry. Each applicant will have a personal interview with the Business Representative in their area and may be asked to validate their declaration of experience.

2) Fill Out an Application for the Registered Apprenticeship Program
Apprenticeship — The applicant has little to no substantiated experience in the trade or industry and agrees to accept the terms of becoming a Registered Apprentice in the training program. As mandated by the apprenticeship standards for each occupation, the apprentice will go through annual formalized related instruction (classroom training) and practical work experience (on-the-job training) to become a skilled qualified journeyman.
Local 132 has an Articulation Agreement with higher education and a Scholarship program for all apprentices accepted into the apprenticeship program. The Articulation Agreement allows concurrent enrollment and each apprentice receives college credits (with passing grades) as they attend the classroom portion of their apprenticeship.
